A very different and very useful meeting. No Education Officer present no Ed clot and no 10 minutes.
We did have a 60 second round where Nige Kirby was looking for kitchen fitters to link up with in order to do the Gas Safe work. Anne Clarke had been working for anaesthetist . She delivered her 60 seconds in a very positive way and we didn’t feel a thing.
Jim Henshaw produced the adage of the week, you don’t get that you don’t pay for thereby illustrating the personal service he provides in order to get you the right product.
Scott Griffiths was looking for people to build ecommerce sites, but more than that people to link up with in an ecommerce business.
Rosemary Cleave was flogging landlords insurance and Adam Hotson his Accountancy and auditing services generally. The whole of 60 second round was delivered in a positive and workman like manner and we all hardly felt a thing.
So on to the main business of the meeting which apart from a quick referrals round took up the whole of our time.
On the Education side our new education materials were rolled out in advance of their publication in final form to the other meeting. We will be going through them in respective Ed Slots but I think it would be helpful if everybody were to read through the pack that they were given, I can promise you, you will hardly feel a thing.
The central theme of the meeting however was to get ourselves up and running as a meeting to mirror the Brentwood Meeting and involve the members on a week by week basis in the development of the Billericay Meeting both inside and outside of the meeting itself.
The first step was to “elect” a committee. It was agreed that existing members, what we hope will be the core of any expanded group will form the committee and Jim Henshaw will be its Chairman.
Next we tackled the Leadership Team, as TM Law is to be a member of the Billericay Meeting, you are stuck with me as Chairman for the duration of tenure of the new Leadership Team.
The handover will be soon at which time the following members will occupy the following positions.
- Education Officer – Nige Kirby
- Meeting Organiser- Adam Hotson
- Events Co-ordinator- Rosemary Cleave
- Membership Secretary – Anne Clarke
In the next week or so we will looking to implement this change to the Leadership Team but in the meantime I think everybody at the meeting felt that there had been a bit step forward and certainly perhaps the most significant step yet. In the words of Mao Tse Tung even the longest journey begins but with one single step.
I look forward to seeing you all next week
The new committee is a productive step forward and I look forward to being part of it. Do I get a new badge with my job title on it? Looking forward to a song or 2 from Nige during the education slot also, lol
Good meeting, as Adam said a very positive step. Looking forward to the next few weeks.
We’ve started building the foundations. Upwards and onwards!
(….or is it onwards first……)
