On our last meeting before Christmas the weather did us the favour of not producing rain, snow or anything more inclement than a stiff breeze and the prospect of at least some sunshine today. 23 of us turned up in our Christmas finery. Most elaborate of the day was John Hammond in full Grinch outfit including head, no less impressive was the overall Christmas outfits of Blake Hammond who tried to convince us that these were his usual pyjamas. Auntie Jane wore full gnome outfit and looked as if she could have been better used by Marks and Spencer for their television advertising than the current TV celeb. The rest of us were a supporting act with a variety of pullovers and T-shirts which we would not have wanted to be wearing had we been pulled over by the police for a motoring offence.
The Performance League
Four members have already broken the 100 point ceiling after only one week, the doyen of which is Paul Corrigan on 123 points. Remember to get all referrals etc onto the website before you relax over Christmas.
The 60 Second Round
In this the last meeting of the year most members confined themselves to giving thanks to fellow members. It is worth reporting however that Dave Moore has acquired a stand on Brentwood High Street on Saturdays in the New Year and Terry Maylin will sue anyone at any time notwithstanding the festive season.
Ben Golding however has been working very hard in preparation for this meeting and it started with a poem with a festive flavour lauding the advantages of Utility Warehouse that was the clear winner of this week’s Oscar.
The Festivities
They started last Friday night with a dinner at Zizi’s that was very well attended and very much enjoyed by all 28 who attended. It represented Paul Corrigan’s first major outing as our Social Secretary and promises much for the New Year. Thanks Paul!
The centrepiece of today’s meeting was the musical quiz both prepared and presented find Ben Golding. It’s amazing how many Christmas songs that you don’t know the proper title to. Many of us just failed to get the answers down quickly enough because we were so mesmerised by Ben’s dancing but it was a great success and our thanks to him for all of his efforts.
Running throughout the meeting had been a business networking bingo produced by Scott Griffiths which was finally won by Jane Malyon
May I add my final thanks to all of the members for making it’s a pleasure for me to be a member of EBF and chair meetings that are always good humoured, frequently boisterous and most importantly effective in passing business between ourselves.
May I also wish you all a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and the prospect of turning up on the 9th January 2025 and doing it all over again.
Thank you all for a fabulous meeting today. It was a lot of fun. Merry Christmas EBFers! I’m looking forward to all that 2025 will bring!
What a brill meeting to end the year! Great fun and just shows what a good group of people we’ve managed to pull together.
Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!
Happy Christmas to one and all
Merry Christmas one & all!
Looks like a fun meeting today, great quiz Ben and your dancing to the music 🙂 I got 4 right in the quiz LOL and well done the winners. Hope you all have a great Christmas and see you in 2025
It was quite fast, that quiz, wasn’t it!! 😀
A very enjoyable final meeting of the year. I was honoured and overwhelmed to be invited to sit in the absent Stuart’s Naughty Corner chair. I never realised how quietly disruptive Paul B and Howard B are. But hey, it’s Christmas, and it was all good honest banter at worst. The group is looking healthy, and I look forward to seeing you all again next year.
Fantastic fun meeting! Well done Ben Ben on keeping us entertained! Have a great C’mas and new year everyone!
Well done to Ben for organising the quiz, it was great fun even if I was rubbish at it.
Thank you Santa for my present – not sure what to do with it yet but I’m sure I will find a use!
Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year!
