It was a miserable morning in sharp contrast to the earlier meetings of this month but despite the intervention of holidays 18 of us presented ourselves at the venue as if the sun will shining brightly.
The Performance League
Lots of us have hit the 100 point mark after only two weeks. Terry Maylin is on 161 points, Toby Acton 163 points and top of the tree is Paul Corrigan on 166 points. A good month in prospect!
Education Presentation
Vincent, Mayor of Gants Hill Village, to not only give him his full title but also it would appear his preferred title, was this week’s presenter. It was very much a group focused slot emphasising what is and what is not a referral. It is only a referral if the third party and/or the beneficiary of the service required has been approached and/or indicated the wish to be put in touch.
The 60 Second Round
It was Brian Painter’s turn this week to go first. His story was of a young lady who was not getting as much out of life as she should be doing. He primed her subconscious with regard to her expectations and all appears to be well. Toby Acton was also bordering on the subconscious when he talked about standing up and sitting down, how you do it and the habit forming nature of doing it properly.
Paul Corrigan was resplendent in a white shirt suitably logoed so that we all knew who we were dealing with
Vincent Mayor of Gants Hill Village explained why Estate Agents use direct mailing….. Because it works! And print on both sides of the page….. Because if it falls through the letterbox white side up you won’t pay it any attention. Vincent pays attention to these sorts of things which is why people order from him.
John Hammond gave us a chemistry lesson. Carbon dioxide is heavier than the air that we breathe. Don’t have detectors on the ceiling therefore!
Ben Golding managed to force out of James Humphreys the acknowledgment that he does Fleet Insurance. He was however, at pains to point out that he has mentioned this once or twice before. He did get a referral out of it however.
Clara Downton would like to talk to anybody who wants to make mortgage arrangements, even if she might not be able to provide precisely what is required. The act of conversation often opens doors. Talking about doors. Leann Reason is happy to be consulted upon the layout if you happen to be building an extension and she is definitely looking for architects who might be able to use or recommend her services.
Terry Maylin has had one or two redundancy settlement agreements cross his desk this week. There might be redundancies generally within the economy so keep your eyes open.
Blake Hammond was a little ray of sunshine today. We are apparently 139 days away from Christmas and 70 days away from Halloween. If that doesn’t make you want to go away and shoot yourself you might find that he can provide items that would be a fit for either festival.
By indicating the work that you have been getting engaged in over the previous week you often illustrate the sort of referrals you are looking for. Well Dave Roberts is more than happy to replace lighting for clients. He’s done three such jobs in the last week. Scott Griffiths, by contrast, whilst happy to advise and provide content to websites that include portable loos he would like to get some content that was beautiful to look at.
Jane Malyon almost won the Oscar with a presentation that involved the use of ‘not just.….’ We are all full of surprises and her English Cream Tea Company also does savoury things like Welsh rarebit in a jar. She was close to the Oscar but the eventual winner was Blake Hammond for thinking on his feet with the upcoming opportunities that autumn and winter festivals present.
10-minute presentation by Brian Painter
Being hypnotised and showing how your subconscious can deliver messages was the theme of his very interesting presentation. Paul Corrigan, probably because of the vivid white and green shirt was the Guinea pig holding a pendulum over a card that indicated YES, NO or MAYBE and showing that pendulum moving to reflect what he was thinking. The strain that it appeared to have on his forearms dissuaded anyone else from being a Guinea pig but as always Brian was more than interesting with his presentation. He also announced to us that it will be the last 10 minutes that we hear from him at our meetings as he will after next week be retiring from EBF. His contribution to the group has been immense, his service long and best wishes to him going forward are heartfelt. I will have the further opportunity of mentioning him in dispatches next week.
Loved today, and love how you have dulled down Brians 60 seconds! Very diplomatic ha ha!
That man will be missed!
Whilst we should all be congratulating Vincent on his stunning Education Slot, it has been significantly overshadowed by Brian’s announcement that he is retiring from the group. Mr Painter has been a legendary presence at the meetings, refusing to adhere to the allotted 60 seconds, even telling the official timekeeper to shut up when the bell rings. But that’s Brian, and we love him for that. I personally feel quite sad about him leaving us, but wish him and Loretta many years of happy retirement
I loved your 10 minutes Brian and well done to your assistant Paul C.
Great meeting nice to be back after my week away. I hate to say it but I missed you all .
Such a great group of businesses I would highly recommend this group if you are looking for a networking group and If you are not, come along anyway for a breakfast and a chat I am sure you would want to join this group
A smallish but good, lively meeting. Very timely ed slot from Vince, regarding what is a genuine referral, he’s not just a printer. Thank you, Tall Paul, for your valuable assistance with the pendulum. I awarded the Oscar to Blake due to the clever way he incorporated Terry and me in to his 60 seconds, thinking on his feet; I would liked to have given 3 Oscars today. Have a good weekend.
Well Done Vincent on a very educational Ed slot!
Mr Painter will be missed
Let’s get another Hypnotherapist in the group!!
Excellent meeting with a valuable Ed Slot and a unique 10 minutes from Brian
Aww Brian! The most dapper gentleman and one of a kind! Bless your heart.
Thank you to Vincent for the introductory words. Another great meeting.
A great meeting, with a sad ending, when Brian announced his retirement from the group. Brian your charm and stories will be missed.
