23 of us were champing at the bit. Only black cloud on the horizon was for those of us who like toasted sandwiches who were denied due to kitchen problems. I think it is fair to say that it made no difference whatsoever to the meeting although I suspect those who like their sandwiches toasted will probably take issue.
The Performance League
Paul Corrigan and Paul Dulieu are both out front and neck and neck on 285 and 284 points respectively. Howard Bullock remains creditable 3rd with 183 points.
Education Presentation
In Ben Golding’s absence Paul Dulieu presented a very thoughtful and well received offering. It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and Paul’s theme revolved around the problems of running a business and how it can affect your mental health. With the sensitivity of the celebrant that he is, he took us through the problems, particularly those that confront men and their inability to talk about things. ‘It’s OK not to be OK’ and some guidelines include; setting boundaries in your business and being willing to say no, making time for yourself, talk and seek help if you are struggling.
A sobering but important message.
New Member Induction & Existing Member Renewal
Good news of the week, Charlie Portway has applied to join!!!
Interesting news of the week, Mike Skinner is going to be tied up with a new project that he messaged us all about during the week. He is available however for new business so we should keep in touch with him if something arises. Congratulations Mike on the project!
The 60-Second Round
Howard Bullock was last week Oscar winner and in his absence Shannon doubled up on her stand-in duties.
You can’t get much for 85p these days, but one of Paul Corrigan’s plans that will not only provide you with value but also peace of mind could be the answer to how you spend your pocket money.
Toby Acton can now boast that he is a Certified Business Strategist and he has the paper to prove it. You can rely on him to align all of your business goals. Kory Martin had a particular goal this week, namely to be brief. He is looking for people who are moving house and also as a bonus he can offer storage facilities. All of this took no more than 25 seconds. A lesson to us all!
Joshua Ayettey can design your house to sit on a particular piece of land, but his knowledge of the planning requirements will enable his design to be compliant and enable you to obtain the necessary permissions. On the subject of added value, Dave Roberts provides the type of service which will do whatever it takes for the customer. This week an empty office with no power was no problem. He even arranged for the power to be restored….. What more could you want?
Leanne Reason, like many of us, wants to make clear that her service is far more comprehensive than anything generated by AI. She is looking to create a home that works for you and your lifestyle.. It is a distinction that we must all grapple with in the coming months.
Jane Malyon regaled us with pictures of wedding cakes and grazing tables. Her illustrations were aimed at emphasising that she’s not just about cream teas any longer. Her category has been expanded to deal with delivering food…. Providing high class food for all celebrations. Her reward was the Oscar for this week and a warning to all of us to watch out for her future 60 second presentations as she expands upon the services that she provides.
10-minute presentation by Vincent Goode
Vincent Goode and Speedprint were in the spotlight this week and he called upon the assistance of podcast Paul to provide an illustrative interview about his early years, how he coped with COVID…. From a business point of view that is. Interesting facts to emerge, ‘things have come a long way in the printing trade since William Caxton in 1476’. It takes pioneers to advance areas of expertise and Vincent played his role. Against his father’s wishes he introduced fax machine and when it ceased to be useful to his business he smashed it up. A sort of reverse Luddite reaction. Entertaining and informative It was an excellent 10 minutes by the Mayor of Gants Hill Village.
Great meeting today, even if I couldn’t get any words out of my mouth!
Loved the ed slot Paul D and Vincent’s 10 minutes was quality as always!
Sorry to miss the meeting, but good thing if there were no toasted sandwiches!
Yup still looking good for work after June 1st, thanks for the mention Aidan!
Another great meeting. Paul Dulieu, your ED, was really insightful on mental health.
The EBF group really helped me as you have friends there you can talk to . It not just about business it is about helping each other as well.
Not sure Jane should have won the Oscar they were only pictures of cakes she did not bring one in for us to try 🙂
Great meeting with a real thought provoking Ed Slot from Podcast Paul who then went on to give a fantastic 10 minute presentation with Vince(nt)’s assistance
A really important message in Paul’s Ed slot: the more we talk about mental health, the more people will feel it’s okay to seek help.
Wish I’d thought of Vincent’s format for my next 10 minutes!
Big thanks and hugs to Podcast Paul for being as patient as he could with me throughout his interrogation, sorry, interview. And jolly well done to Jane for a deserved Oscar win. See you next Thursday
Excellent meeting, as always. See you next week gang.
Another good meeting as always. Excellent Ed Slot from Podcast Paul and a fun and informative 10 minutes from Vince. Have a good week.
