Autumn is with us and us was 17 members all ready for some networking action.
The Performance League
Theaction initially was Scott Griffiths’ summary of this month’s performance league. For the second month running Paul Corrigan was well out front with 363 points. He was followed by Terry Maylin in and Toby Acton. More than half of the members we’re ahead of the benchmark for the month.
Education Presentation
Paul Booth made this presentation around the importance of attendance. Weekly meetings are central to our networking potential. You’ve got to be seen, you’ve got to be heard and therefore you have got to be present. The Thursday meeting should be written out of your diary for the whole of the year. Save for illness, holidays, or emergency you should be there. You should be there to ensure the success of the meeting; you should be there to ensure that you can maximise your referral giving and receiving. The problem with this sort of Ed slot, you are to some extent preaching to the converted. Those who should be taking note will not be there unless they read this blog.
The 60 Second Round
Terry Maylin in was last week’s Oscar winner but in his absence at a conference, John Hammond stood in and emphasised the importance of looking after client’s interests, even in his case when he owed duties to a main contractor. A Hammond double act had Blake following, urging us to visit his website and choose Christmas gifts early.
Melissa Jackson explained how there was always a class of creditors that one might not automatically consider, namely a company’s employees. They were a very relevant consideration in a company liquidation and care was to be taken in ensuring they were viewed with all of their government supported benefits in the case of an insolvency.
Matt Barry reminded us that an arm of his business dealt with social media training whilst Nick Cook reminded us that structural design and structural inspection we’re at the heart of his services.
Toby Acton urged us not to fear change. He inevitably likened this to Formula One racing and the importance of regular and small changes to maintain performance and success.
It’s always nice to be educated in the areas of endeavour undertaken by our members. Vincent Goode spoke of, and indeed showed us, an example of Fluted Polypropylene in the form of what appeared to be a durable and effective sign advertising a company and its products. If you are in any doubt as to how to present yourself to the public at large you should always consider Fluted Polypropylene, even if you finish up rejecting it.
Clara Downton drew to our attention the different ways in which she often approaches equity release. It is not necessarily for the old in need of delayed repayment of interest but also within the context of remortgaging, it is worthwhile just having a chat with her about your mortgage options. The first conversation is free so why not go for it.
Dave Roberts brought along a rather scary looking melted plug and socket which was a frighteningly visual explanation of why a customer’s heating was not working.
Andy O’Neill will quite legitimately not be with us next week. He’s away for two days in Liverpool doing testing on various sites. Howard Bullock visited his usual site i.e. Paul Booth’s shoulders but went on to tell us all that he had an App. and if we downloaded it, it would improve our communications with our financial guru
It’s normally Toby Acton who relishes metaphors; so in due deference, Scott Griffiths used a simile….. Why not! You always ensure that your car has at least an annual service. It should be like this when you deal with your website.
He was followed by Jane Malyon who produced a red hamper basket full of cheese products which she proceeded to glorify with a poetic ditty that won her the Oscar for ingenuity if nothing else.
This weeks statistics and points of note
As it was the meeting immediately following the end of month there was something for Scott to reporter upon. Referrals totalled 48 and with further money still to be accounted for there is likely to be well in excess of £57,000 worth of business recorded. This and the good scoring in the performance league was evidence of a better than usual month.
10-minute presentation by Aidan Squire
It was my turn this week which might have explained the slight reduction in numbers present. Those absent however missed a treat. We contemplated loss of mental capacity and the value of lasting powers of attorney. The exercise seemed to generate enough fear in the audience to prompt lots of questions. Now all you have to do, dear members, please get me lots of referrals.
Just to prove that lots of you read this blog and have taken to heart the education presentation, let’s have a great turn out next week.
Really informative 10 mins from Aidan. Much deserved Oscar for Jane for her poem and a very much on point Ed Slot from Paul. See you all next week when hopefully I will do a better 60 secs!
Sounds like I missed a great meeting-sorry for my absence-see you all next week 👍
I’ll be honest, I’m a bit disappointed that there’s not a video this week so I wasn’t able to watch the meeting back to see what I missed. This always seems to happen!
Anyhow, apologies for the absence and missing your 10 minutes Aiden.
I don’t know what happened to our very talented videographer today!
Gutted I missed today, I trust you were in good hands with George.
Sorry I missed your ten minutes aidan. Looking forward to seeing your happy faces next Thursday 😀
A really good and on-point presentation from Aidan, talking LPA’s. It certainly got us all thinking! A good ed slot from Paul B regarding our attendance and how much it matters. Jane your hamper was amazing! a great Christmas present! Blake (ammohive), thanks for the other sweater, I may get my own one back off my daughter now! Working hard and playing hard as always.
Great ED slot Aidan. If you do not have LPA in place please get one because you can not do it after you need it. It is like insurance you can not claim if you do not have a policy.
You never know what lurks behind the next corner. get Ed slot Paul .
Valuable information today – really enjoyed taking it on board. Another great meeting and thanks to Paul and Aidan for their contributions. Also, I WON the Oscar. Woohoo. I’d like to thank my parents….. 😀
Great education slot and fantastic 10 minutes.
