Under siege from the elements we mustered 21 bodies this week including one visitor, Leo Crocker
The Performance League
After only one week Matt Barry had amassed 120 points, Paul Corrigan 121 points, but way out front was Stuart Smallcombe with 157 points.
Education Presentation
Whenever Toby Acton presents we can always look forward to something rather cerebral and today was no exception. His theme was ‘the best way to get punters to love you and your product’ and he had enlisted the assistance of the Naughty Corner and to that extent therefore had taken his professional life in his hands. He came out relatively unscathed. His assistants largely were involved in holding up diagrams to illustrate the points that he was making.
So when we try to sell our message what you do is perhaps secondary to why you do it. You need to resonate with your audience but on a subconscious level as to your motivation. Anyway, you should start with your purpose and then move on to your product. It certainly sounded right and as it came from the mouth of our motivational mapper it had the authority that others of us couldn’t have imparted. We need more of this type of presentation, if only to stretch our brains before the meeting gets too far underway!
The 60 Second Round
Terry Maylin was in charge of the Oscar award this week and he set the round in motion by explaining how a claim for a client was substantially boosted by the compensation and interest element he was entitled to through the delay in payment. From above around £12,000 there was interest and compensation in excess of £6000 . Going to Terry to chase debts can be productive.
Tina Walker is back from her Spanish jaunt with Neil Bellham’s catering business and understandably is looking for similar gigs. On the domestic front Dave Roberts was highlighting that aspect of his business; fitting new lights and sockets, rewiring and changing fuse boards.
Matt Barry is viewing the coming year as requiring a nurturing the partnerships that he has in business, not least the one that has arisen from his EBF connection.
Vincent Goode was wanting to point out the value of the humble business card as a valuable tool in presenting yourself to the world. He appeared slightly thrown however by the contributor immediately preceding him. It was of course none other than our Pilgrim. Vince had shown some enthusiasm for emphasising in the leadership team introductions his role as 60 second bellman. As usual he demonstrated his skills and he certainly looked up to and up for the challenge. He normally prevails but was no match today for Brian Painter. His theme was two clients both of whom were finding difficulty in making presentations in their jobs and he dealt with them successfully. he then went on to describe a testimonial from a lady who had been similarly afflicted and her subconscious brain had been put right by Brian. We were by now into the second minute of the presentation and despite the bell there still seemed no end to what was a presentation that managed almost to reach the three minute mark. He is of course a serial offender and his subconscious in no way holds him back. I am looking forward to the rematch next week!
Stuart Smallcombe produced an interesting piece of instruction in relation to monitoring your telephone calls. The system that applies that he adopts can be available to all and involves making sure at the end of the day you have a list of all missed calls and/or all calls that have not been successfully returned.
Self-sacrifice at its best was exemplified by Melissa Jackson who devoted the whole of her 60 seconds in praise of Dave Roberts and the help that he had given her. She didn’t even mention that she was an insolvency practitioner so I will do it for her.
Euphemism of the week can be attributed unequivocally to Scott Griffiths who wanted to emphasise that he represents all sectors of business not just,’ waste management’, which is something he frequently promotes through website hosting and perhaps also just general interest in the whole process. Not wishing to waste promotional time on security matters John Hammond also substituted for Blake and devoted his 60 seconds to Ammohive’s selection of all things camping; from walking boots to tents. It made you want to forget the winter and get out into beautiful spaces. Leann Reason also deals with making spaces in your home beautiful
Finally the Oscar award found its way to James Humphreys, as he explained the challenges of providing the right cover for his clients. Well done James.

10-minute presentation by Paul Corrigan
Paul Corrigan set out on his maiden voyage this week and made a good job of it. By way of introduction he traced his career history to where he presently is and then answered questions of a more plumbing nature. Interestingly enough he was in the RAF for a very short period of time and not only did the job not get off the ground but neither did he. He demonstrated as he has done through the work that he is undertaken for members to date the fact that we have very good new member.
Referrals and Testimonials
A really solid round of referrals and acknowledgement’s of business passed. Hopefully matters mentioned today will result in good figures for this month.
A jolly entertaining meeting, well done indeed to PTP (Paul The Plumber), for extended highlights of his career to date. My elbows were encroaching slightly on Clara’s table, but she offered little resistance which I found admirable.
Well done Paul great to hear about your background and how you got to where you are now and thoughtful Ed slot Toby
Thank you Terry, hope the meeting with the elderly lady went well today?
Great meeting . Great ten minutes Paul. You have only been a member for a few weeks and you have already got a number of referrals and recommendations from members for completed works . Well done
Thank you John, means a lot

Great presentation Paul, its always good to hear people’s story of how they got to where they are and your tale was not dull. Great to have you in the group. Lovely to have our visitor and hopefully we will see him again.
A good biography from young Paul and well presented.
Encouraging to have a visitor, Leo. I believe he spoke. I really must get a new battery for my audio equipment.
