The weather had the audacity to produce a rather heavy drizzle if not to say rain. Spirits were not dampened and despite the absence of many members on holiday we mustered 21.
The Performance League
Current leader is Howard Bullock. He will be on holiday for the remainder of the month so he is more than beatable.
Education Presentation
It was Terry Maylin’s turn to educate us which he did very effectively. His subject was the obligation of members, notwithstanding the effectiveness of the website, to try and attract visitors and thereby increase the membership, Given the natural wastage on an annual basis we certainly need to “run” in order to stand still. In particular it was suggested that we turned negatives into positives. Junk telephone calls, emails and flyers posted through our door should at least receive a cursory glance to see if the person who is trying to get work is a potential candidate for our group. Clear and well delivered and very useful.
The 60 Second Round
Mike Rogers was last weeks Oscar Winner and the grumpy old git therefore kicked off our session. Being first up made it easier for him to influence the proceedings and he proceeded to do just this. The simple expedient was to suggest that he would not consider anyone for the Oscar unless they indicated that Mike Rogers was a wonderful person or something like that. At risk of perjury many of us were so interested in winning the Oscar that they threw caution to the wind and lavishly heaped praise upon Ole Grumble Guts.
If I can remember anyone who did not heap accolades on the head of the aforementioned Rogers I will mention it because they were in a very definite minority. Lets call them “ Jeremy Hunt voters”
Nick Cooke explained how useful he could be to builders before they commenced building work in relation to the suitability of the ground that they are building on for foundations.
Dan Wright had a far more attractive proposition for us all. He has access to Norwich City FC tickets from time to time and it is a benefit that EBF Members can take advantage of. Well done Dan for so many good reasons.
Matt Barry was celebrating his Essex clients which included a Salon located in Kent! Matt, you have just become an honorary Essex Boy.
Richard Reed looked super relaxed from his holiday to the extent that he sported canvas type loafers that would have graced any promenade in England or abroad. In fact he had been to Mauritius and was singing its praises.
Brian Painter has bitten off something he will have to chew for a long while apparently. A fifty year old ex IT Manager with chronic anxiety that prevents him from talking to people. We look forward to receiving progress reports.
Jill Willis was the only other person who might conceivably be described as being a Jeremy Hunt voter. Although she mentioned Mike Rogers’ attributes they were reported as a third party comment and she then went on to indicate that Mike Rogers had the profile of a person that she did not need if she was to help people in developing their business. It might not surprise you to learn that he awarded her the Oscar.
Saj Sreedharan has been very busy with funerals and weddings. He would like more of the same.
Ford Astbury was talking “permitted development”, the importance of the paper work but more importantly paying the fee.
The 60 Second Round dwindled to an end with everyone offering up their praises to Mr Rogers…ah well, it was slightly different than usual.

Synergy Team Report
Richard Read gave a report of the very excellent meeting that had taken place on Monday of this week at the George and Dragon.
10-minute presentation by John Freeman
John (Quick in and out) Freeman produced a very relaxed 10 minutes. Apart from that the down side of his being in his 50th year and the fact that he does not like going up ladders on to roofs, the rest as always with John was always positive. As a Member he is at the heart of our group. Almost everyone in the group has used him and that is testimony to the fact that he is highly recommendable.
Great meeting and well done Mike for being such an awesome guy (cough!)
A great meeting, obviously the marvellous Mike Rogers gave an outstanding 60 second presentation lol!
